69. Hugh Oubridge ANDERSON+ was born on 27 Feb 1890 in Forest Hall. He was christened in 1890. In 1913 he was a Land Valuer (Inland Revenue),. He was living in 1913 in 10 Lily Avenue, Jesmond. He was living in 1914 in 15 Beech Terrace, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. He was living between 1916 and 1918 in Lea Holme, Shincliffe, Durham. In 1916 he was a Surveyor of Taxes. He was living in 1930 in 5 Grosvenor Terrace, York. He was living in 1939 in Portsmouth. In 1944 he was a Civil Servant (( Retired an HM Inspector of Taxes) in Durham, York, Portsmouth. He was living in 1952 in 1 Warleigh, 19 Craneswater Park, Southsea. He died on 21 Feb 1953 in Portsmouth Royal Hospital, aged 62. He was C of E. It is remarkable that (unlike his eldest brother) he apparently did not serve in the armed forces in WW1.

Aged 20 he went on a high-powered farm tour in Canada & USA in 1910, July to September, when he wrote 3 letters to his parents. Suggested father did not sell farm, but let him run it, "I would like to manage it myself ------------------ and would be quite willing to have only the profit I could make after paying you a good % and allowing depreciation off."

3 years later he married Nance, a presbyterian, BY LICENCE with his brother William (and a Margaret Alice Lawson) as witnesses, he being then a Land Valuer (Inland Revenue).

Married 8 July1913. Keith born 7 Oct 1913.(No Father's name on birth certificate).

According to his father's Will after his mother's death, he shared the Trust Fund income with brother James and sisters Mary and Dorothy.

He (with J. Fawkes and C.A.R.Walford) was witness at daughter Joan's wedding.

Death Certificate: informant son H.J.Anderson of 14 Wennington Crescent, Ilford, Essex.

" A well-known Southsea sportsman, ..............., died in Portsmouth Royal Hospital on Saturday. He was 62. Mr Anderson was a well-known local tennis player until 3 years ago and took part in many tournaments. He also played bowls and was a particularly keen bridge player. A Civil Servant for 35 years, Mr Anderson was one of HM Inspector of Taxes at Portsmouth until shortly before his death, having come to the city in 1939. Gardening was another of Mr Anderson's pastimes and during the war he tended the gardens of a number of Southsea people during the time that they were evacuated. A native of Hexham, he is survived by a widow Mrs N. Anderson, two sons and a daughter."

Hugh Oubridge ANDERSON+ and Annie Hunter (Nance) PIGGFORD+ were married on 8 Jul 1913 in Presbyterian Church Northumberland Square, North Shields by licence. Annie Hunter (Nance) PIGGFORD+ (daughter of Jonathan PIGGFORD) was born on 17 Apr 1890. She was Presbytrian Church of England. She was living 1913 onwards in same addresses as husband until parted by her death. Daughter of Jonathan Piggford, Master Mariner. Hugh Oubridge ANDERSON+ and Annie Hunter (Nance) PIGGFORD+ had the following children:
