He died of cardiac failure on 18 Oct 1930 in Nursing Home, 5 Saville Row,Newcastle upon Tyne. He was buried on 20 Oct 1930 in St John Lee Church, Hexham at 2.30pm. James Verty's health could have been judged to be too poor for him to serve in WW1.

Upon his mother's death, according to his father's Will he shared the Trust Fund interest with brother Hugh and sisters Mary and Dorothy.

He died Intestate, hence Letters of Administration was granted to brother William Anderson. Gross value of estate was £334.

James Verty(1) ANDERSON+ and Lucy MAUUGHAN were married on 21 Sep 1920 in All Saints, Gosforth. They were divorced on 22 Aug 1928 in the High Court of Justice by Hon. Sir E.B.Charles. Lucy MAUUGHAN (daughter of George MAUUGHAN) was born in 1894. She appeared in the census Childless. She was living to 1921 in Summerhill, Graham Park, Road, Gosforth.
