23. George BARBER (AUSTRALIA)+ was born on 26 Dec 1813 in Bowsden, Wooler, Northumberland. He was christened on 2 Jan 1814 in Lowick Parish Church,, Northumberland. He emigrated in 1844 from UK to Victoria, Australia. He died on 26 Feb 1897 in Mount Taurus, Warrmambool, Vic., Australia. He was buried on 28 Feb 1897 in Church of England Section,Warmambool Cemetrey, Vic., Aus... On landing in Melbourne then, found it totally undeveloped (no drains or water supply,wild unmade streets, primitive houses etc.). Got job with Mr McCrae, lawyer, became partner in McCrae & Barber.
1895 resided at Mount Taurus, Nr Koroit.

While a young man returned temporarily to London & furthered his studies in the offices of a leading legal firm, became a qualified lawyer.

George BARBER (AUSTRALIA)+ and Charlotte Augusta MEARA+ were married on 2 Jul 1849 in Belfast (Port Fairy) , Vic., Aus... Charlotte Augusta MEARA+ (daughter of George MEARA and Louisa Anne HODGES) was born on 13 Nov 1817 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on 22 Mar 1908 in "Wingfield", Spring Gardens, W armambool, Vic., Au.. She was buried on 23 Mar 1908 in Churchh of England Section, Warmambool Cemetrey, Vic., Au... 4th daughter. Came from Van Dieman's Land (Tasmania).
