9. James(1) HERRIOT(T)+¹³ was christened on 15 Jun 1759 in Chirnside. He was born in 1759 in Chirnside. He died on 3 Apr 1832 in Gunsgreen Cottage. He was Farmer, Tenant of Cloughhead & Springwells, latterly Aytonlaw & Highlaws Nr Eyemouth.
He changed his name to HERRIOTT in protest after his youngest brother inherited, as did his son Robert.

James(1) HERRIOT(T)+ and Agnes THOMSON ? were married 1773 ?. James(1) HERRIOT(T)+ and Agnes THOMSON ? had the following children:
