7. James (Young Yin) HERRIOT+⁵ was christened on 15 Mar 1724 in Swinton Kirk,Swinton & Simprim. He was born in 1724 in Whitsome & Hilton, Berwickshire. He died on 24 May 1804 in Kelloe Mains. He was buried on 29 May 1804 in Edrom Church. He was Farmer Of "Allanbankmains Or Stuartslaw", Kelloe Mains.. Farmed "Allanbank Mains orStuartslw" farm indicating change of ownership. Latterly farmed Kelloe Mains.(A Sir John Stuart of Allanbank is mentioned in sasine 1015 of Nov 18, 1790 regarding Robert Blackadder and his Allanbank Paper Mill beside Chirnside Bridge.)

"compeared this day Jean Weatherhead for the second time;she was rebuked for the second time for the sin of uncleanness with JAMES HERRIOT, tenant in Kelloe while servant with him; she was duly admonished as to her future behavior and absolved from the scandal. The favorable account of her conduct and her previous appearance of contrition furnished suficient inducement to dispense with her public appearance before the Congregation." (Could possibly George Herriot? be her bastard?)
