91. Francis HERRIOT+ was born about 1836 in Berwickshire, Scotland. He immigrated on 23 Jul 1853 to Adelaide, S Australia. He died probably of brochitis at his home, on 27 Aug 1923 in Windsor, Gilles Plains, S.Australia. He was a "Squatter". He was buried in Northroad Cemetrey beside his mother, Plot 345. He was living in Gilles Plains ( house of his mother). Said unkindly that he "was a Ne'er-do-well". He was apparently a "Squatter", which probably meant that he got wild land in COORONG free to farm.

That he and both wives were buried with his mother's grave suggests that he was close to his contemporary family.

Funeral notice read; "..... FRIENDS of the late Mr. FRANCIS HERRIOT are invited ......"

Francis HERRIOT+ and Mary FITZPATRICK were married on 24 Mar 1862 in St. Patricks RC Church , Adelaide. Mary FITZPATRICK (daughter of William FITZPATRICK) was born in 1839. She died before 1869. She was an RC. Francis HERRIOT+ and Mary FITZPATRICK had the following children:

138	i.	Mary Frances HERRIOT was born on 29 Mar 1863 in Coolatoo, The Coorong, S Australia. She died before 1923.
139	ii.	Stuart William HERRIOT was born on 23 Nov 1864 in Coolatoo, The Coorong, registered Adelaide. He died before 1923.

Francis HERRIOT+ and Rosetta BYRNE were married on 21 Jul 1869 in St. Lukes C/E Church, Adelaide. Rosetta BYRNE (daughter of James BYRNE) was born in 1845 in Cheltenham, UK. She immigrated in 1859 to Australia. She died of angina pectoris on 31 May 1917 in Gilles Plains, at home. She was buried in Northroad Cemeterey beside her mothrt-in-law, Plot 345.
