MACLAGAN MD+ was born in 1818 in Edinburgh. He served in
the military about 1845 in The Royal Canadian Regiment as surgeon.
He died on 25 May 1892 in Berwick-upon-Tweed. He was living in Edinburgh,
Berwick-upon-Tweed (52-54 Ravensdowne). He was educated in Edinburgh
High School & University. He was Church of Scotland (Elder of Wallace
Green church), UP.. On his death an impressive statue was erected
to his memory in the High Street of Berwick-upon-Tweed then in the forecourt
of Berwick Infirmary. About 100 years later it was re-erected outside The Infirmary,
looking onto the Elizabethan Ramparts. "The Beloved Physician".
Dr Philip Whiteside(1) MACLAGAN MD+ and Margaret JOHNSTON were married in
1847. Margaret JOHNSTON (daughter of Dr George
JOHNSTON MD+) was born in 1813 or 23 in Berwick-upon-Tweed. She died
in 1887 in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Dr Philip Whiteside(1) MACLAGAN MD+
